Application Process
The Juneau Construction Academy introduces adults, 18 and over, to careers in the construction trades. Follow the directions below If you would like to apply for one or more of the free courses being offered this semester.
- Complete an application form. Forms available at Juneau Job Center, The Learning Connection, or www.juneauconstructionacademy.org
- Complete a Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE 9/10) survey assessment. You must score at 8th grade level or above in both Reading and Math to apply for academy courses. The assessment takes approximately 65 minutes. TABE 9/10 will be administered at Juneau Construction Academy Orientation Sessions or during business hours at the Juneau Job Center* and The Learning Connection.** You may only take the TABE assessment twice to meet cut off scores.
- It’s optional, however submitting a Resume and 2 Letters of Recommendation (from teachers, employers, coaches, etc.) are encouraged.
- All individuals submitting complete applications (including successful TABE assessment scores) will be offered a 20 minute interview " type="text/javascript"> for class placement. Class sizes are limited and interviews do not mean you have been selected.
- If you’re selected for a class, you will need t o take an additional math assessment. If you score below 80%, a short construction math course will be required.
